I BELIEVE IN BABAJI

about

As weird as I get in song land:

Watching a kid swimming in a country pool on a YouTube link, something happened. Ya have t take my word for it. Or not. I swear, there was an unmistakeable shift in this kid’s ink black eyes. As if lightning pierced my computer screen, a spirit missile into my heart. For real, if not ‘reality’.

For a split second, time stopped. The kid’s image froze just long enough to capture his look, an out reach, spirit to self. My immediate reaction, my odd Berlin awareness, said to me that the swimmer was briefly inhabited by the Indian Saint - Babaji - popular among mystics and gurus of many stripes. (He’s on the Sgt Pepper’s album cover. George?)

Although hundreds of years old, he appears, to those who’ve ‘seen’ him, a perpetual early 20 year old - revered for having chosen to remain on earth, as opposed to moving up the karmic levels of sainthood, sticking around in order to heal souls, to assist in their enlightened transformation.

(Up to you cynics to believe in any of this (unlikely) - of course, I am a believer in much of the unprovable.)

Wiki: Mahavatar Babaji (IAST: Mahāvatāra Bābājī; lit. 'Great Avatar (Revered) Father') is the name given to his guru by Indian Yogi Yogiraj Lahiri Mahasaya (1828–1895), and several of his disciples, who reportedly appeared to them between 1861 and 1985, as described in various publications and biographies.[2][3][4][5][6] According to Yogananda's autobiography, Babaji has resided for at least hundreds of years in the remote Himalayan regions of India, seen in person by only a small number of disciples and others.

lyrics

I BELIEVE IN BABAJI

i see a angel
does he see me
it was his eyes on a You Tube
was he Babaji?

uh oh
if not a fantasy
uh oh
was he a Babaji

i tell ya
i felt somethin’
he was swimmin’ in a swimming pool
out in the country

uh oh
if not a fantasy
uh oh
was he a Babaji

i am a weirdo
first to admit it
but this dude he caught me
an arrow to my heart

uh oh
if not a fantasy
uh oh
was he a Babaji

i am older
live my life vicariously
spirit everywhere
you tube r a leaf
on a tree

uh oh
if not a fantasy
uh oh
was he a Babaji

do ya have a mantra
do ya live the dream
do ya love the northern lights
do ya love the mystery

i see a angel
does he see me
it was his eyes on a You Tube
was he Babaji?

uh oh
if not a fantasy
uh oh
was he a Babaji

i can tell ya
i felt somethin’
he was swimmin’ in a swimming pool
out in the country

uh oh
if not a fantasy
uh oh
was he a Babaji

i believe
in the impossible
i believe
in the beautiful
i believe
in all the silly love songs
i believe
in Babaji
