I'M SORRY

from DEMOS by Rick Berlin

/

about

This song. Double origins.

A) 1000 CLOWNS - one of my all time favorite movies. In particular that scene where Jason Robards practices saying ‘I’m sorry’ over and over again on the street after he failed again at finding a job, and had to say something to his girlfriend and his son back at home.

B) The other day, at my job at #theHalfwayCafe (Dedham) the door opened and this giant dude (he had to duck coming in) walked over to me, held out his hand and said ‘I’m sorry. I want to apologize. I was rude to you in here 6 months ago, and I wanted to come back and apologize.’ I told him it was fine, that it was honorable of him to do so, but wasn’t necessary. But I’ll never forget it. He was The Biggest Dude I’ve ever seen. Solid muscle. No fat. Shaved head. His hand so larger mine disappeared into it. He looked EXACTLY like Drax The Destroyer from The Guardians of the Galaxy.

So, for both these inspirations, this song. Post Scriptum: the piano part is so out of time weird that it almost makes sense, so I never corrected it. Typical of a song writer who never considers himself a real musician.

lyrics

I’M SORRY

oh oh yeah

im sorry
so sorry
i apologize
shake my hand
look me in the eye
forgive me

i hurt yr feelings
i didn’t mean to
i lost my mind
i hurt yr feelings
come home

i was wrong
i admit it
so im sorry
ill bend the knee
i apologize
im a bad boy
forgive me

i hurt yr feelings
i didn’t mean to
i lost my mind
i hurt yr feelings
come home

im sorry
so sorry
i was wrong
today
i read the letter
from yr friend
im sorry

i hurt yr feelings
i didn’t mean to
i lost my mind
i hurt yr feelings
come home

oh oh yeah

come home
