For years (essentially 60’s/70’s hippie era/error) I lived with a LOT of people in great big houses. Howard Ave, New Haven. Chilmark, Martha’s Vineyard. Ridgemont St, Allston. Forest St, Newton Highlands. So much happened in those barn-sized behemoths. An acid-fueled karass of souls, parties, art and inspiration. Living on the cheap under one roof. This is for all who do and who’ve done this. You know who you are. You remember. Those rooms, those kitchens, those twisted fierce romances. We thought they’d last forever but of course they never could. In some ways we still live under those eaves, in nostalgic cobwebbed hearts. This sketch of a song (Nickel & Dime is at work raising it’s roof) is dedicated to the Creighton Street 9 whose triple-double decker went up in flames on New Years Eve. See ya at the Midway Cafe Fundraiser Monday, January 30th to raise ‘em up some cash.
