lyrics

JEILA

the darker the night
the brighter the stars
hey it’s only yr pain
it’s not who you are
+ ya wish things wr different
+ it makes ya mad
it makes ya mad
oh baby
impossibly lonely

yr surrounded by friends
but you go home alone
to yr laundry-filled room
bright eyes in the mirror
+ yr scared yr boy crazy
+ it makes ya mad
it makes ya mad
oh baby
unbearably lonely

Jeila don ya worry
Jeila don be sad
Cuz yr pretty + ya paint cool pictures
+ ya come from Iran
oh oh oh

ya smoke too much
+ you puked last night
+ yr girlfriend’s got a boyfriend
there’s no end in sight
so ya wanna be tough
+ it makes ya mad
it makes ya mad
oh baby
unreachably lonely

Jeila don ya worry
Jeila don be sad
Cuz yr pretty + ya paint cool pictures
+ ya come from Iran
oh oh oh

ya gotta believe

Jeila don ya worry
Jeila don be sad
Cuz yr so pretty + ya paint cool pictures...

THE SHELLEY WINTERS PROJECT went into WOOLLY MAMMOTH SOUND (The weeping behemoth has folded her tent. The catacomb rehearsal/label/studio so many have slogged away in for years is being torn to bits to make room for - you guessed it - condERminiums.) Anyhow SWP slid in there one long night and recorded 17 songs live. (Sir David Minehan crawled all over the place - ass in air - to get things right.) Overdubbed vocals and one or two bits of guitar, violin. Mixed when we could. In many ways it's SHELLEY's truest record. No other instruments or players took part save those last remaining: Meredith Cooper - violin. Jeff Muzerolle - drums. Noah Scanlan - bass. David Berndt - guitar. Berlin - Berlin. Realize it's been said before, but as far as this old lady's concerned, SHELLEY is her LAST BAND EVER. Will miss Mr. Minehan with all my heart. Less some big idea with big bucks wades into my life.

A giant on the Boston music scene. His colorful songwriting + strong stage presence have influenced countless other artists since the early 1970s. He continues to make music w/ intelligence + integrity, building an international reputation around his knotty, singular piano playing, straight-from-the-heart singing and a style of character-based songwriting that's drawn comparisons to Waits + Cohen ... more
