PEOPLE LAUGHED AT ME MY WHOLE LIFE

from DEMOS by Rick Berlin

about

My friend Danny, a Turk, said those exact words to me at the Behan late one night. Early on it's a horror. Down the road perhaps a badge of honor. I like the song. I think it tells the truth. In a way, it's anti bullying.

lyrics

PEOPLE LAUGHED AT ME MY WHOLE LIFE

people laughed at me
my whole life
somethin was off
maybe i didn't act right
so i hated them - i did...for years

i was weird i guess
not like other kids
playground games i lost
+ my smile was crooked
+ i had a lisp
least they said i did

c - maybe my eyes weren't right

my high school days
i walked alone
w/ a cigarette tryin t be cool
+ the girls wrote notes
that wr filthy n mean
least i think they did

what would it take
t get some respect
trusting a hand when it opened?
would she touch me?
would she love me?

whistle

a clown is someone
makes people laugh
i was certainly him
but the joke was on me + they got it
but i didn't
